How I Found the Courage to Leave My ‘Dream Job’ and Follow My True Purpose
For 15 years, I worked in the fast-paced world of media and advertising. My career took me from London to international offices, working for some of the most iconic brands in the industry — including Time Magazine, CNN, 21st Century Fox, and National Geographic.
In my final media role, as an Account Director for National Geographic, I was living overseas and travelling the world.
To most people, it looked like I was living the dream.
When “Success” Doesn’t Feel Like Fulfilment
My job was exciting, creative, and full of adventure - but deep down, something never felt quite right.
There was this quiet inner voice whispering, “There’s something else you’re meant to being doing with your life.”
As the years went by, that whisper became harder to ignore. The work I was doing, while impressive on paper, didn’t feel aligned with my values or who I was at my core. I longed to do something that truly made a difference — something that mattered to me and others.
Then one day, I watched an interview with Caroline Myss and Oprah Winfrey that changed everything. Caroline said:
“If you are doing something in your life that is not aligned with your purpose, who you are, and your inner values — then you are betraying yourself.”
That statement hit me like a lightning bolt.
It explained that restless feeling I’d been carrying - my intuition was trying to get my attention. I realised that, in some way, I had been betraying myself by staying in a career that didn’t truly align with who I was.
Finding Clarity Through Coaching
Change, of course, wasn’t easy. I didn’t have all the answers (or any!) I just knew that something had to shift.
Working with a coach was the turning point. Coaching gave me the clarity, courage, and structure I needed to move forward. I finally uncovered my true passions and purpose, and began exploring what that could look like as a meaningful life and career.
My coach helped me see past the doubts and fears that were holding me back. He encouraged me, challenged me, and kept me accountable when my self-belief wavered.
Even if I had never changed careers, that journey of self-discovery was transformative. I learnt so much about who I am, what matters to me, and how I want to live my life.
But I did change - and that decision became the start of a completely new chapter.
From Media Executive to Life Purpose Coach
Today, my work looks and feels entirely different.
I now help neurodiverse women go through the same empowering process - guiding them to rediscover their purpose, build confidence, and align their lives with who they truly are.
Instead of feeling anxious or disconnected in my work, I feel excited and alive. It’s that inner feeling of this is what I’m meant to be doing.
Empowering Others to Find Their Purpose
I feel deeply honoured to help others connect with their passion and purpose and live lives that feel authentic, joyful, and aligned. Because life is far too short to live it for someone else.
If you’ve been feeling that same inner nudge - that whisper that says there’s something more - I know exactly how that feels.
And I’d love to help you explore it.
