Why Coaching Works for Women with ADHD

I still remember my very first coaching session.

I was 35, sitting nervously in a large, purple, velvety chair — and that day changed the course of my life.

Up until then, I’d never really known what a coach was. Like many of us, I assumed coaching was about someone giving you advice, telling you how to fix your problems, or helping you “get organised.”

But what I discovered that day was something far more powerful - and far more transformative.

On Paper, My Life Looked Perfect

At the time, I was living overseas in Cape Town, South Africa. From the outside, it looked like I was absolutely thriving — a well-paid, prestigious job, global travel, remote work (which was rare back then!), and a beautiful lifestyle with a retired partner at forty.

It was a classic Instagram highlight reel moment — tanned, smiling, cocktail in hand, with the mountains behind me.
The kind of photo that makes someone scrolling from a rainy flat in England think, “She’s got it all together.”

But the truth beneath that image?

I wasn’t happy. Not really.

I felt lost - guilty even - because I should have been happy. I had everything I’d been taught would bring happiness… yet it didn’t feel right. It wasn’t my dream.

Something inside me was quietly whispering, “There’s more than this.”

Living the dream?… or doubting my choices?

The Magic of My First Coaching Session

Then came that first session. My coach, Glenn, had this calm, grounded, and deeply compassionate energy.
